Acceptable Use Policy
Version: October 5, 2026 (2026-10-05)
1. Purpose and scope
This Acceptable Use Policy explains what is not allowed on Matrimony.fr. It applies to every visitor and member, including profiles created by a parent or guardian, and to every part of the Platform: profiles, photos, messages, contact details and payments. It completes our Terms of Use (CGU); in case of doubt, the Terms of Use apply.
2. A platform for genuine matrimonial search
Matrimony.fr may only be used by adults, in good faith, to look for a life partner for themselves or for a family member who has agreed to it. Using the Platform for any other purpose — for example advertising, recruitment, research, casual dating or collecting contacts — is not allowed.
3. Prohibited use
You must not use Matrimony.fr for, or to attempt:
- false or misleading profiles — for example a false age, marital status, religion or community, or photos of another person;
- impersonation of another person, a family member without their agreement, an organisation or Matrimony.fr;
- fraud, scams or solicitation — asking for money, gifts, loans, investments, visas or any financial or commercial favour;
- harassment, threats, hate, abuse or intimidation, including insistent contact after someone has said no, and any pressure or coercion towards marriage;
- sexual exploitation or sexually explicit content or solicitation; any content involving a minor is strictly forbidden;
- illegal goods or services, or any criminal activity, including trafficking or forced marriage;
- spam and unsolicited commercial messages, chain messages or advertising;
- scraping, bots, automated account creation or data harvesting of any kind;
- bypassing contact-access, payment, verification or security controls — for example several accounts to avoid a block or a limit, or sharing access you obtained;
- malware, phishing or malicious links;
- misuse of another member's phone number or email address — using it for anything other than the matrimonial conversation it was shared for, passing it on, or continuing to contact someone who asked you to stop;
- publishing another person's private contact information or personal details without their authorisation;
- any use unrelated to genuine matrimonial matching;
- any violation of applicable laws or of the rights of others, such as privacy, image rights or intellectual property.
4. Contact details obtained through Matrimony.fr
A phone number or email address you see on Matrimony.fr was shared for one purpose: a respectful matrimonial conversation between the families concerned. It must not be sold, published, added to a list, used for marketing or passed to anyone else. If a member asks you to stop contacting them, you must stop.
5. Reporting a problem
If you see a profile or behaviour that breaks this policy, use the "Report" button on the profile, block the member if you wish, or write to contact@matrimony.fr. Never send money to someone you met online. If you are in immediate danger, contact the police or the emergency services first.
6. What Matrimony.fr may do
Depending on how serious the breach is, and in proportion to it, Matrimony.fr may:
- remove or hide content, including photos and profile text;
- restrict messaging or contact access;
- suspend or close the account concerned;
- preserve relevant records where the law requires it;
- cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities — see Law Enforcement Requests.
Where the law requires it, we inform the member concerned of the decision and of how to contest it. Any consequences for Matrimony Points or payments are governed by our Terms of Use and Terms of Sale, without prejudice to mandatory legal rights.
7. What we do not guarantee
Matrimony.fr reviews profiles and verifies email addresses and mobile numbers, but it does not check identity documents and cannot guarantee that every member is who they say they are or acts in good faith. Take your time, involve your family and verify important information yourselves.
8. Changes to this policy
