These Terms of Use cover the use of the Platform. Purchases of Matrimony Points are covered by our Terms of Sale (CGV)

These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Matrimony.fr ("we", "us", "our", the "Platform"), the operator of https://matrimony.fr. Please read them carefully, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. By accessing or using the Platform, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, accessing, or using the Platform in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by all policies referenced in them. These Terms apply to all visitors, registered members, and anyone who accesses the Platform on behalf of another person or a family member.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your country of residence, whichever is higher) to create an account or use the Platform. By using the Platform you represent and warrant that: (a) you are of legal age and have the legal capacity to marry; (b) you are legally free to seek marriage and are not prohibited from doing so under any applicable law; and (c) all information you provide is true and accurate. Registering on behalf of a son, daughter, or other relative is permitted only with that adult person's knowledge and consent, and you accept these Terms on their behalf.

3. Nature of the Service

The Platform is an online matrimonial introduction service: members publish a profile, search other profiles and use compatibility tools — the traditional Tamil 11-Porutham horoscope comparison, an optional numerology comparison and, where enabled, an overall "Match Rank" that orders suggested profiles. We do not arrange marriages, negotiate on anyone's behalf, or carry out background checks or investigations. We do not vouch for any member and do not guarantee that you will find a partner or marry. Any communication, meeting, engagement or marriage is the decision and responsibility of the members and their families.

4. Matrimonial Contract

These Terms govern the use of the Platform. The matrimonial introduction service itself is provided under a separate, written matrimonial contract that each member with a profile is invited to sign in their dashboard (French Consumer Code, art. L224-90 et seq.). It sets out the service, the free and optional paid features, the price methodology, a fixed duration of at most 12 months with no tacit renewal, an annex describing the person you are looking for, the seven-day period to go back on your commitment, the distance-contract right of withdrawal, termination for a legitimate reason, and complaint and mediation arrangements. Profiles stay visible whether or not their owner has signed, but access to any new member contact details — by a points unlock or through access granted by the administration — requires a signed contract in force. Buying points with money is possible only after the seven-day period following signature and is also governed by the Terms of Sale (CGV). Points cannot be transferred between members. If these Terms and your signed contract differ, the contract prevails for the matrimonial service.

5. Account Registration & Security

You can sign in with your Google account or with a one-time sign-in link sent to your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that Google account or mailbox secure and for all activity under your account; tell us immediately about any unauthorised use. You may not share, sell or transfer your account, create more than one account for the same person, or register using another person's identity without authorisation.

6. Accurate Information & Profile Content

You agree to provide information that is truthful, accurate, current, and complete, and to keep it up to date. You are solely responsible for all content you submit, including your name, personal and family details, photographs, horoscope details, and partner preferences. You must not upload or publish content that is false, misleading, fraudulent, obscene, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, unlawful, or that infringes the intellectual-property or privacy rights of any person. You must not publish another living person's photograph or personal data without their permission. We may edit, hide, reject, or remove any profile or content that we believe, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms.

7. User Conduct & Prohibited Activities

You agree that you will not: (a) use the Platform for anything other than genuine, lawful matrimonial purposes; (b) harass, abuse, threaten, stalk, defraud, or impersonate any person; (c) solicit money, donations, gifts, investments, or financial or commercial favours from other members; (d) use the Platform for advertising, prostitution, trafficking, or any illegal or immoral activity; (e) collect, scrape, harvest, or store other members' data, or use bots or automated tools; (f) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, its servers, or its data, or interfere with its security or operation; (g) upload viruses or malicious code; or (h) violate any applicable local, national, or international law. Breach of this section may result in immediate termination and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

8. Safety, Fraud Warning & Assumption of Risk

We do not verify the identity, background, marital status, character, or intentions of any member. You interact with other members entirely at your own risk. You are strongly advised to exercise caution and common sense, especially when sharing personal information or communicating outside the Platform.

Fraud warning: Never send money, financial details, one-time passwords, or valuable items to anyone you meet through the Platform, no matter what reason is given. Be alert to "romance scams", requests for emergency funds, visa or travel money, and any person who refuses to meet in person or by video. If you choose to meet another member in person, do so in a safe public place, inform a family member, and take appropriate precautions.

You acknowledge and agree that you assume all risk arising from your use of the Platform and from any contact, communication, meeting, relationship, or marriage with other members, and that we are not responsible or liable for the conduct, acts, or omissions of any member, whether online or offline.

9. Verification Is Your Responsibility

It is entirely (100%) the responsibility of you and your family to independently verify the identity, age, marital status, education, occupation, income, health, family background, horoscope, and any other details of any prospective match before proceeding with any communication, engagement, or marriage. We do not conduct, and are under no obligation to conduct, any background check, criminal check, or verification of any member or any information published on the Platform.

10. Horoscope, Numerology & Match Rank Disclaimer

Porutham (horoscope) compatibility and numerology are based on traditional beliefs and methods. They are provided for cultural guidance and information only; they are not science and do not predict the success of a marriage. The optional "Match Rank" is an automatic ordering of suggested profiles based on your stated preferences and profile information; it is a convenience, not an assessment of any person. Results depend on the data members enter (for example, birth time), which we do not verify. Do not rely on these tools as the sole basis for any decision; consult family elders or an astrologer of your choice if you wish, and make your own judgement.

11. Contact Details: Admin Contact Access and Contact Unlock

The phone and WhatsApp numbers you choose to enter are protected by default and are not shown publicly. Another member can see them only (a) when an administrator has granted that member Contact Access (a manual, free permission decided by the operator, time-limited or standing), or (b) where the feature is enabled, when that member has unlocked your profile with Matrimony Points — an unlock covers one profile only and stays available to that member. Your login email address is never shown to other members. Once contact details are revealed, members may talk directly (for example by phone or WhatsApp), outside the Platform. A phone number is required when you create a profile; WhatsApp is optional. If you do not want them to be available in these ways, you can remove them later in your profile. Paid Matrimony Points are governed by our Terms of Sale (CGV).

12. Profile Review and Moderation

New and edited profiles are reviewed by an administrator, before or after publication. This review checks that a profile appears genuine and respects these Terms; it is not an identity, background or document verification. We may refuse, hide, edit or remove content, and suspend accounts, that breach these Terms or put members at risk.

13. Blocking and Reporting

You can block a member: you then stop seeing each other in search and on profile pages, and the other member is not told. You can report a profile that seems false, abusive or unsafe; reports are reviewed by an administrator. If you are in immediate danger, contact the police or emergency services first.

14. Deleting Your Profile and Closing Your Account

Deleting your matrimonial profile from your dashboard removes it from search, matches and public pages and deletes its photos and horoscope details. If you only want your profile hidden for a while, ask us through the contact page. Your login account (your email address) is separate from your profile: to close it, contact us in writing. Some records must or may be kept after deletion — for example payment and accounting records, wallet and unlock history, consent records and security logs — as explained in our Privacy Policy.

15. Content Licence & Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its design, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by or licensed to the operator and is protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Platform without permission. By submitting content to the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and use that content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the service (for example, showing your public profile to other members). You retain ownership of your own content and are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit it.

16. Third-Party Links & Services

The Platform relies on third-party services (such as Google sign-in) and may contain links to third-party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third party. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

17. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components, that any information on it is accurate or reliable, or that any member is genuine, suitable, or will lead to a successful introduction or marriage. Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the Platform is accessed at your own discretion and risk.

18. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or reputation, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Platform or your dealings with any member, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. In particular, we are not liable for the acts, omissions, conduct, misrepresentation, fraud, or offline behaviour of any member. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you shall be limited to the amount (if any) you have actually paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or, where you have paid nothing, to a nominal sum. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

19. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the operator and its owners, employees, and service providers from and against any claims, demands, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use of the Platform, your content, your interactions or dealings with other members, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of the rights of any third party.

20. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account or access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms, engaged in fraudulent, unsafe, or unlawful conduct, or where necessary to protect other members or the operator. You may stop using the Platform and delete your profile at any time from your dashboard. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) shall survive.

21. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and process personal data. Please review it carefully.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The version date at the top shows the current version. We will inform registered members of material changes on the Platform or by email before they apply. Changes never affect purchases already completed, which remain governed by the Terms of Sale accepted at the time of purchase.

23. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

24. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in providing the Platform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, failures of telecommunications or hosting providers, cyber-attacks, or governmental action.

25. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding the Platform and supersede any prior agreements or understandings. No failure to enforce any provision shall be deemed a waiver of that provision.

26. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of your country of residence where the applicable law gives you that protection. Before any legal action, please contact us so we can try to resolve the matter; consumers may also use the free consumer mediation described in our Terms of Sale (CGV). Failing an amicable solution, the dispute will be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under the applicable rules.
